April 5: Korea’s Kevin Na continued to establish himself firmly on the US PGA Tour with a tied 28th finish at the Bellsouth Classic on Sunday.
The 20-year-old American-based Na, winner of the Volvo Masters of Asia in 2002, shot rounds of 73, 71, 69 and 74 at the TPC of Sugarloaf for a 287 total and finished 12 shots behind winner Zach Johnson.
It was Na’s ninth start in his rookie year on the US PGA Tour and he has now been in the money on six occasions. He finished tied fourth in the recent Honda Classic which helped boost his season’s earnings to nearly US$280,000.
Sweden?’s Daniel Chopra, a regular in Asia and playing in his rookie season in America, finished in 69th place on 297.
Indian star Arjun Atwal, last season’s Asia’s number one, and American Ted Purdy both missed the halfway cut.
