April 7: Asian Tour star Zhang Lian-wei has been drawn alongside former Masters champion Bernhard Langer of Germany and Spaniard Sergio Garcia for the opening two rounds at Augusta National.
Zhang, making his Masters debut after earning an invitation to the year’s first Major, has played in several practice rounds at the famed Augusta layout where its greens are amongst the most treacherous in the world.
The self-taught golfer will tee off his first round at 10.34am while the trio will be the last group out on Friday at 1.41pm. Langer, who will captain the European team in this year’s Ryder Cup, won the Masters in 1993.
Asian stalwart Choi Kyung-ju of Korea, who tied for 15th place in his maiden Masters appearance in 2003, will play the opening two rounds alongside in-form players Adam Scott of Australia and American Chad Campbell. They will tee off the first round at 12.35pm and second round at 9.35am.
Scott won The Players Championship two weeks ago while Campbell triumphed in the Bayhill Invitational last month.
