Nitithorn off to flying start #ATQSchool

Bangkok, December 28: Thailand’s Nitithorn Thippong fired a five-under-par 67 to lead in the first round of the Qualifying School Section A at Windsor Park Golf Club on Wednesday.

He traded seven birdies against two bogeys to lead by one shot from Brian Jung of Canada and Dino A. Giacomazzi of the United States. A total of 12 players and ties from Windsor at the end of four rounds will qualify for the all-important Final Stage.

At the Suvarnabhumi Golf and Country Club, Jack Wilson of Australia carded a superb seven-under-par 65 to sit atop the leaderboard.

Max Williams of England was a further shot back while Thai duo Kitdanai Suphasirises and Supajak Supapinyo, Kelby Burton of the United States, Sam Lee of Fiji and Yuichiro Nishi of Japan were tied in third place on 67s.

Players from Suvarnabhumi must finish inside the top-22 and ties to qualify for the Final Stage from January 11 to 14, 2017.
