Tour caddies honoured in annual gathering

Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, February 9: American Tim Cox and Malaysia’s Mohamad Sahfri were declared joint Caddie of the Year winners when the Professional Tour Caddies of Asia held its annual gathering at the Maybank Championship on Tuesday.

Cox is the caddie to India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar, who won twice on the Asian Tour last season at the Shinhan Donghae Open and BANK BRI-JCB Indonesia Open while Sahfri was the bagman for Australia’s Sam Brazel who won the season-ending UBS Hong Kong Open.

Honorable mentions went to Eddie Susanto, who was caddie for the 2016 Resorts World Manila Masters champion, S.S.P. Chawrasia of India, Paul Meeposom, winner of 100th Open de France for Thai star Thongchai Jaidee, Ekalak Phimpiset, winner of four Japan Senior Tour events with Thailand’s Prayad Marksaeng and Lee Ming-chieh, who caddied for Lu Wei-chih in his Mercuries Taiwan Masters victory.

Best Dressed caddie award went to Indran Rosales, worst dressed to Raul Martinez and funniest caddie to Greg Harper.

The PTCA extended its thanks to Saujana Golf and Country Club manager Ken Kudo, Asian Tour’s Board Member Kyi Hla Han and COO Cho Minn Thant, George Shay of Titleist and the  Thongchai Jaidee Foundation for supporting its annual gathering.

2016 was the PTCA’s first year as a caddie association on the Asian Tour, with 90 members from 16 different countries.
