Kiradech settles for second in Dubai

November 11: Kiradech Aphibarnrat of Thailand settled for second place at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai on Sunday to increase his chances of being selected in Team Asia for the EurAsia Cup.

The 2013 Asian Tour number one posted a final round five-under-par 67 to finish on 18-under-par 270, one shot from the champion Jon Rahm of Spain at the European Tour’s season-ending event.

Kiradech posted two birdies and one bogey on the first nine but made a charge on his homeward nine with four birdies including a closing birdie to match his best result this year.

His runner-up finish and solid form over the last few weeks have captured the attention of Team Asia captain Arjun Atwal of India.

“I like the fact that he’s making it easier for me! #Eurasiacup.. maybe capt’s pick!” Atwal tweeted.

The final team for Team Asia will be announced next week after the UBS Hong Kong Open.
