Xiamen, China, December 1: Bowen Xiao of China played a magnificent round of golf on the second day of the KG S&H CITY Asian Golf Championship to close in on first-round leader, William Harrold.
The Chinese golfer, who finished day one in tied-13th, soared up the leaderboard after a magnificent start. After a par on the 10th, Xiao carded a birdie on the 11th followed by an eagle at the par-4 12th. He shot 32 at the turn. Xiao tarnished his otherwise flawless card with a bogey at the fourth hole and finished at five-under-par 67 for a two-day total of six-under-par 138.
Namchok Tanipokhakul of Thailand produced another solid round at the Kaikou Golf Club in Xiamen, China. He carded two birdies against one bogey for a 71, which puts him in contention for the title after two rounds. He also carded only one bogey on Thursday.
Marcus Both of Australia is relishing the windy conditions and tricky greens. He started his round scrappily but found his rhythm after his third hole. He carded a bogey-free 69.
The first ace of the tournament was scored at the 174-yard par-3 17th by Singapore’s Quincy Quek. He teed off with a seven iron. It was Quek’s first hole-in-one on the Asian Tour and his ninth overall.
