Younger leads at St. Andrews 2000

January 3: Josh Younger of Australia fired a seven-under-par 64 to lead in the opening round of the Qualifying School First Stage at St. Andrews 2000 on Wednesday.

Younger leads by a single shot from Thailand’s Tawan Phongphun and Korea’s Woojin Jung, who both returned on matching 65s.

At Silky Oak Country Club, Ben Crancer of the United States registered a six-under-par 65 while countryman Tarik Can and Javier Gallegos of Spain were a further shot back in tied second place.

Han Lee of the United States produced a solid seven-under-par 64 at Windsor Park Golf Club to lead by two shots. Chirat Jirasuwan of Thailand and Michael Wright of Australia trail in tied second place.

Jeremy Wendelken of the United States topped the leaderboard at Rayong Green Valley Country Club after shooting a six-under-par 65 while Colombia’s Daniel Zuluaga sits in second place following a 66.

The leading 30% of the field at each venue after four rounds will qualify for the all-important Final Stage which will be played at the Rayong Green Valley County Club and the St. Andrews 2000 in Rayong from January 10 to 14.
