  QUE TAKES CLUBHOUSE LEAD

Angelo Que.

Bali, February 26: Filipino star Angelo Que wielded a hot putter on the way to a solid eight-under-par 64 and the clubhouse lead in the opening round at the Enjoy Jakarta Indonesia Open on Thursday.

Que, who won the 2008 Philippine Open, blasted eight birdies for a four stroke lead over compatriot Antonio Lascuna who was in a tie for second place after a 68 alongside Australia's Andrew Dodt, Scotland's Richie Ramsay, England's Simon Khan and Welshman Jamie Donaldson.

Indonesia's top golfer Rory Hie shot a 70 to lie in a tie for 12th while Sweden's Daniel Chopra carded a 73 to lie in joint 33rd spot at the New Kuta Golf Resort.

Despite the two hour delay in the morning due to inclement weather, Que conquered the greens thanks to an impressive 20 putts today at the par-72 championship course.

"I made 20 putts today. I've never done that before, probably only in a computer game. I had made a 23 or 24 before so this is a very nice performance," said Que, who will be eager to head out in the second round.

"There are still three more rounds to go. There are a lot of good players out there. I am leading by four shots and if I can keep my distance from the guys behind me, I'll be happy.

"I hope there is no delay tomorrow because if that happens, we would be finishing the second round on Saturday. It's going to be tough then. I am hoping and praying that it won't rain tomorrow," added the leader, with two wins on the Asian Tour.

Compatriot Lascuna believes that his preparation on home soil has helped him tackle the challenging conditions today.

"I think it was my practice round at Mt. Malarayat Golf and Country Club (Philippines) last week which helped me adjust well here. I shot 10 birdies there which was nice. The layout at Mt Malarayat is quite similar to what's playing this week with the dogleg holes and sometimes narrow fairways. If I can emulate that run tomorrow, it would be great," admitted Lascuna, who won 18 professional titles on the domestic circuit.

Using a nine iron, Spain's Rafael Cabrera Bello aced the par three 15th hole for a 71 to lie in a tie for 22nd position.

Round one is still in progress.
