My driver didn't work really well today, I hit only hit eight fairways. If my driver can work better, I can make more birdies. The greens are still new on this course and there are many slopes on them. I figured the only way to make birdies was to try and hit it close to the pins. If you leave yourself with long putts, it'll be hard to make them.

I made a couple of good putts early on to sort of keep it going and then the game eventually got a little better. I putted well the whole day and I hit a lot of fairways. I was really solid. I hit a lot of good iron shots coming in, hit them close for the birdies. Most of the putts were from inside eight or nine feet.

It was a good round despite the double bogey on the ninth hole where I hit my drive to the back of the green and missed an easy tap in.
I didn't expect to do well today as I haven't been playing golf for the past two months due to a wrist injury so I'm glad to be able to shoot what I shot today.

It was a good start to the week, good start to the second half of the year. It was good as I practised really hard leading in. I putted really well today and hit some nice iron shots. All round, it was a nice solid round. The last three weeks, I just trained hard and put in the hard work. I work on every part of my game and I just let it go today and have fun. It just paid off.

After going to three over after seven holes. I told myself that I had another 11 holes to play and then I just kept it going and stayed in there. The birdies just dropped. I wasn't keeping count. I just said to myself that 'this birdie is done, let's get on to the next hole'. There was a lot of excitement. Those seven straight birdies really helped my score.

After a couple of months off you are never quite sure how you are going to come back on your first competitive round. On the Asian Tour International, I was leading there after the first round, so I've managed to obviously do something right both times during the off season but six-under on this golf course under this conditions, I'll take that for sure. I just kept the ball in play mainly and didn't do too many mistakes. I hit my irons on the right parts of the greens and rolled my ball nicely. There were a couple of misreads but all in all it is a pretty solid round.
I worked really hard during the time off with my coach Adam Frazer back in Melbourne for a couple of sessions a week. There were not many things wrong but we wanted to make sure it is as good as it possibly could be. We had the opportunity not to worry too much on scoring but worked on the technique, ball shaping and course management and just try to get myself back into the play mode.

I drove the ball well with my 3-wood and I've left my driver in my bag as it is going left and right. I hold many long putts for birdies, which was nice. I won on this course in 1996 and I like it here. I can still remember that i won the tournament with a birdie on the 18th hole. I've been struggling this year with poor driving and I keep changing drivers but funnily enough, every time I change a driver, i've won a tournament in Thailand on three occasions. And this week I've got a new driver in the bag so hopefully I can win again.
