February 9: Four members currently ranked in the world’s top-64 will qualify for the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship from February 17 to 21.
Asia’s first major winner, Yang Yong-eun of Korea, who lies in 28th position, will lead Vijay Singh (31) of Fiji, reigning Asian Tour Order of Merit champion Thongchai Jaidee (50) of Thailand and India’s Jeev Milkha Singh (59) into the year’s first World Golf Championship event.
Another 13 members are also listed in the world’s top-200 of the Official World Golf Ranking.
Asian Tour member Kenichi Kuboya of Japan, who finished in the top-40 of Qualifying School, lies in 81st place followed by Chinese stalwart Liang Wen-chong in 89th place.
Asian Tour honorary member K.J. Choi of Korea sits in 96th position while Thailand’s Prayad Marksaeng, a six-time winner in Asia, is in 100th place.
Among other names in the top-200 are: Korean Kim Kyung-tae (110th), recently crowned Asian Tour International winner Gaganjeet Bhullar (115th) of India, Lin Wen-tang (122nd) of Chinese Taipei, Japanese Azuma Yano (126th), Johan Edfors (137th) of Sweden, Japanese duo Tetsuji Hiratsuka (155th) and Daisuke Maruyama (158th), Bae Sang-moon (175th) of Korea and Australia’s Andrew Dodt (195th).
