Singapore, March 9: China’s Zhang Lian-wei withdrew from the OSIM Singapore Masters on Thursday after failing to shake off the flu bug.
Zhang, the 2003 winner here, has been struggling with illness since arriving from Indonesia on Monday. He was replaced by Australian Anthony Brown, who earned his Asian Tour card from Qualifying School in Malaysia. Zhang left for home this morning and hopes to be ready for next week’s TCL Classic in Sanya, China.
The talented Indian, last season’s Rookie of the Year on the Asian Tour, has been knocking on the door in recent weeks for a second title to go with his success in the Volvo Masters of Asia last December.
