After several unsuccessful seasons, Somkiat sealed his full card on the Asian Tour for the first time after an impressive campaign in 2008. He challenged for the title at the Brunei Open before finishing tied third and followed up on that strong performance with two other top-10 finishes at the Macau Open and the lucrative Barclays Singapore Open, which sealed his position in the top-65 of the Order of Merit. Endured another slow season in 2009 where he claimed two top-30s at the Asian Tour International and Queen’s Cup on home soil. Amongst his other career highlights was a seventh place finish at the 2004 Crowne Plaza Open in China which he led after the first round. He enjoyed a remarkable streak in 2005 where in 14 starts, he did not miss a single cut.
