Into his mid-40s, Lu has shown no signs of slowing down. He claimed his fifth Asian Tour title in 2008 when he won the Mercuries Taiwan Masters on his home course, the Taiwan Golf and Country Club’s Tamsui course for a record fourth time. Lu also finished runner-up in the Brunei Open when he was beaten by Australian Rick Kulacz in a play-off and was also in the top-10 at the Philippine Open and Worldwide Selangor Masters. Lu also enjoyed a first when he partnered Lin Wen-tang to play in the Omega Mission Hills World Cup in China. In 2009, Lu came close to adding a sixth Asian Tour title only to settle for second position, three strokes behind compatriot and champion Lin in his defence of the Mercuries Taiwan Masters. In 2007, Lu enjoyed one of his finest seasons by lifting two titles, the Macau Open and Mercuries Taiwan Masters. He defeated Richard Moir of Australia in a thrilling play-off in Macau where he birdied the 18th hole three times and then won the Mercuries event. The veteran also posted five other top-10s to earn US$265,909, the highest in a season in his career. His fine season was marred though by injuries which saw him miss the last four tournaments of the year. In 2006, Lu claimed three top-10s at the TCL Classic in China, Bangkok Airways Open and Volkswagen Masters-China. He led by one stroke with two holes remaining in his title defence at the Bangkok Airways Open but dropped a costly triple bogey on the 17th hole. In 2005, Lu claimed the Bangkok Airways Open in another play-off win against Thammanoon Srirot of Thailand. It ended a seven-year winless run for him then. He went on to finish the season in 12th place on the Order or Merit. Among Lu's other best outings that season were a third place finish in the Mercuries Taiwan Masters, fifth in the Myanmar Open and seventh in the Volkswagen Masters-China. With his renowned steady iron game, Lu was rated as one of Chinese Taipei's best golfers during the 1990s and was the country’s number one in 1994. He had excellent seasons in 1997 and 1998 where he came in third and eighth respectively on the Order of Merit. His maiden Tour victory was achieved on home soil at the 1998 Ericsson Classic when he led the tournament from start to finish, using a putter he borrowed from Thailand’s Boonchu Ruangkit. He triumphed in a sudden-death play-off against Carlos Espinosa and Felix Casas after his approach shot at the second extra hole hit the flagstick and dropped down close to the cup to set up a winning birdie. Has four other runner-up finishes in Asia – the 1995 Tournament Players Championship in Malaysia, 1997 Kuala Lumpur Open, 1997 Omega PGA Championship in Hong Kong and the Mercuries event in 2002. In 2003, finished tied fifth in the Mercuries Taiwan Masters for his lone top-10. Challenged for the title at the Macau Open in 2004, settling for joint third.
