• Lee is one of the most inspiring stories on the Asian Tour as he continues to live his dream of being a professional golfer despite being born deaf. • Secured his lone victory at the 2007 Bangkok Airways Open in Thailand, leading from start to finish. • Lee also came close at the 2009 Hero Honda Indian Open but lost in a play-off to India’s C. Muniyappa. • He also finished tied fifth in the 2007 BMW Asian Open in Shanghai and impressed final round playing partner Ernie Els, who said: “It's amazing. So much that we do comes from feeling and sound. A good golf shot sounds good and when you hit a good putt, it comes from good sound. It must be very difficult for him doing what he is doing and he's doing unbelievable.” • Won the Driving Distance category in 2014 and 2015.
• Lee was born deaf but in 2010 he had an implant surgically put into his right ear to help him hear. • Prior to that, he communicated by lip-reading through his father, Lee Kang-kun or brother Lee Sung-joo. P • layed baseball when he was young but quit the game due to problems in communicating with his teammates. • Learned golf at the age of 16 through his father. • Lee senior is his only coach and models his swing after Fred Couples and Ernie Els. • Was initially registered on Tour as Lee Sung-man but opted to shorten his name to Lee Sung in 2006.
