Adilson reigns supreme at home

July 8: Brazil’s Adilson Da Silva braved through difficult conditions to win the Sun City Challenge by one shot at the Lost City Golf Course last Friday.
The Asian Tour member who finished in 11th place at the Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters a fortnight ago, carded a two-under-par 70 in his closing round to clinch his 12th victory on the Sunshine Tour.
“The wind was everywhere out there, and those bogeys came simply from not knowing which club to use,” said Adilson, who compiled a winning total of nine-under-par 207.
“I’ve been working really hard on the mental side of the game. I know my swing is good, all thanks to my coach John Dixon, but the work that I’ve been doing with my mental coach, Dave Beattie is starting to make a difference,” added the Brazilian.
Meanwhile China’s Liang Wen-chong, 2007 Asian Tour Order of Merit champion and Japan’s Daisuke Kataoka savoured a memorable week in Japan when they took a share of ninth place at the Nagashima Shigeo Invitational SEGA SAMMY Cup on Sunday.
Liang and Kataoka posted matching 68s in the final round to finish eight shots back of Japanese winner Shunsuke Sonoda, who claimed his second career victory on the Japan Tour with a winning total of 268 at the North Country Golf Club.
Talented Kataoka, who has two top-five finishes on the Asian Tour, posted a final round four-under-par 68 to secure his third top-ten finish on the Japan Tour this year.
Ends.
