Hua Hin, Thailand, December 2: Thailand’s Peradol Panyathanasedh overcame the gusty conditions by posting a second round two-under-par 70 to move atop the leaderboard with compatriot Raththee Sirithanakunsak at the ADT Thongchai Jaidee Foundation on Friday.
Overnight leader Udorn Duangdecha slipped to third following a 73 while defending champion Kiradech Aphibarnrat, a two-time Asian Tour winner, will head into the weekend rounds two shots back of the leaders in tied-fourth place together with Chanat Sakulpolphaisan after they returned with matchings 69s. Raththee SIRITHANAKUNSAK_2-Dec-2016_1
Starting the day tied for second, Peradol stumbled early with two bogeys in his first five holes at the Black Mountain Golf Club where the four million Baht (approximately US$115,770) Asian Development Tour (ADT) event is being staged.
Peradol’s birdie on the par-four nine then brought back the much-needed confidence and he would go on to mark with card with another three birdies on holes 12, 16 and 18 for a two-day total of six-under-par 138.
“It was really windy out there today but luckily I managed to stay patient. I did not lose hope even though I was two-over early in my round.
“I hit my driver really well and began to bounce back especially on my back-nine. My confidence came back and I’m happy I finished strongly,” said Peradol.
Raththee also made his move by overcoming a four-shot deficit at the start of the day to grab a share of the lead with Peradol with his 68.
Raththee traded three birdies against two bogeys in his outward back-nine but charged back strongly with three birdies in his inward-nine.
