Kuala Lumpur, May 23: The Asian Tour has struck a new and exciting partnership with Japan’s leading golf website, Golf Digest Online (GDO), to publish Asian Tour content for the next three years.
www.golfdigest.co.jp will become the Official Website Partner of the Asian Tour in Japan and will showcase live scoring, news and statistics in Japanese along with selected video highlights from Asian Tour events.
GDO will translate and manage editorial content from the Asian Tour, which is the official sanctioning body for professional golf in Asia. The Asian Tour is also celebrating its milestone 10th season this year after its launch as a players’ organisation in 2004.
The agreement is an extension of the Asian Tour’s multilingual strategy following its successful collaboration with Sina, which is China’s leading website, since 2008.

GDO will create dedicated pages for the Asian Tour to keep Japanese golf fans up to speed with the latest tournament scores and news while also enhancing the user experience via selected videos in one of Asia’s biggest golf markets.
Kyi Hla Han, Executive Chairman of the Asian Tour, said: “With the growing appeal of the Asian Tour to all four corners of the globe, we look forward to a very strong partnership with GDO. We are very excited that our news, live scores and videos will be available on www.golfdigest.co.jp as we reach out to a mature fan base in Japan.
“The growing number of Japanese stars on the Asian Tour was another key factor for us to establish a partnership with GDO.  Top names like Tetsuji Hiratsuka, Daisuke Maruyama, Daisuke Kataoka and Masanori Kobayashi, who are all winners on the Asian Tour, have big following back home and through www.golfdigest.co.jp, Japanese golf fans will be kept up to speed with the latest news and happenings of their favourite Japanese player on the Asian Tour.
“This is a massive development for the Asian Tour as we believe our content should be localized in various markets around Asia to enhance golf fans’ experience. Our brand and appeal have grown immensely over the years and we want to ensure that fans can continue to enjoy the best coverage of the Asian Tour.”
Yasuko Mukai, Director / Editor in Chief, Golf Digest Online, said: “We are very excited with this three-year partnership between the Asian Tour and GDO. The golf market in Asia is booming rapidly and every golf industry such as manufacturers, courses and the media pay attention to the Asian trends. We believe this agreement will bring huge benefit for our Japanese audience and we will make our best effort to showcase the great tournaments and players from the Asian Tour.”
GDO is the most popular website for golf in Japan where it delivers a one-stop service with the most comprehensive and up-to-date information on golf (media business), a full line up of golf products (retail business), and the largest offering of online tee-times (golf course service business) in Japan. GDO was listed on MOTHERS of Tokyo Stock Exchange in 2004 and has over 150 million page views per month and 2.7 million visitors per month as of April, 2013.
