July 2: India’s Arjun Atwal slipped seven shots off the pace to tied-18th place after signing for a third round five-over-par 75 at the Quicken Loans National on Saturday.
Atwal, an eight-time Asian Tour winner and the first Indian to win on the PGA Tour, started the day in tied-fourth position following a second round 67 but five bogeys in his penultimate round saw him slip out of contention.
Atwal, who is playing in the tournament for the third straight year on a sponsor’s invite courtesy of his good friend and tournament host Tiger Woods, trails leader David Lingmerth of Sweden with a three-day total of even-par 210 at the TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm.
Over at the HNA Open de France, Sweden’s Rikard Karlberg took a share of 28th place after stumbling with a triple-bogey on the last for a third round three-over-par 74.
He trails the leading duo Alexander Björk, his compatriot, and American Peter Uihlein by seven shots on one-under-par 147 total at the Le Golf National in Paris, France.
Reigning Order of Merit champion Scott Hend of Australia slipped to tied-49th place following a 77 while defending champion Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand carded a 75 to tie in 62nd place on 218.
