This week, asiantour.com speaks to India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar who is enjoying a solid run on the Asian Tour after securing two wins in five starts in Taipei and Macau. The 24-year-old opens up about his aggression on the golf course, his idols and the best moment in his career amongst other things in our Back 9 series.
How would you describe yourself as a golfer?
Aggressive because I like to attack the par-fives.
What is your favourite club in your golf bag?
I love the lob wedge because I love to hit different kinds of shots with it.
How do you relax away from golf?
Just watching a movie or playing a round of golf with my friends.
What motivated you to turn professional?
I guess it’s from watching golf on television. Watching Tiger Woods lifting trophies and of course watching Indian players doing really well.
What are your three travel essentials?
Laptop, Gatorade and my gym equipment.
Who were your golfing idols when growing up?
Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh.
What is your ultimate goal in golf?
To win a Major.
How has the Asian Tour impacted your career so far?
I’ve started my career on this Tour and I’ve learnt a lot from the Tour. My thankfulness and gratitude will always go to the Asian Tour no matter where I go in future.
Best moment in your career so far?
Making your breakthrough is always the toughest and for that I’ve to say that winning my first professional tournament on the Asian Tour-the Pertamina Indonesia President Invitational ranks high up there.
