The Korean, who spent his formative years on the Asian Tour, mixed six birdies against two bogeys to sign off with a four-day total of eight-under-par 276 at the Riviera Country Club.
Bae led the field after round two but a third round 76 saw him lose his grip on the lead and he eventually finished three shots behind winner, John Merrick of the United States.
At the African Open, Asian Tour member Adilson Da Silva of Brazil signed for a 76 to finish seven shots behind South Africa’s Darren Fichardt who won his fourth European Tour title with a 272 total.
Da Silva had earlier taken the second round lead but could not maintain his charge for his maiden win on the European Tour after rounds of 62,68, 73 and 76.
