Shunya TAKEYASU (JPN) - First Round 64 (-7)
I played solid today, especially my putting. I sank a long putt on the first hole and that was kind of the highlight for me today. This is a challenging golf course. The fairways are tight so you got to drive the ball really well and put the ball in good positions.
Winning on the ADT last week was a great confidence-booster. The game’s feeling good and I am riding on my good form. I hope I can continue to play like that for the next three rounds
Soomin LEE (KOR) – First Round 64 (-7)
I feel very excited out there. I had a good finish last year and I was very happy because it was my first year playing on the Asian Tour. It’s great to be back again. There are a lot of good memories.
I played with Mithun and Carlos (Pigem) and we had great fun out there. I enjoyed myself a lot and I was able to just play my own game. My game’s been good. I finished top-10 in Myanmar last week and I am riding on that good form coming here. Everything was good for me.
This course suits my game. I was able to hit it straight as the fairways are tight and greens are small. I guess that helps.

Thitiphun CHUAYPRAKONG (THA) – First Round 65 (-6)
I think I am very lucky today, especially my putting. I sank in 15-footers on the eight and 18. The course is not easy. I putted very well and I guess that was what makes the difference today. I sank a 10-footer eagle putt on seventh after hitting a three-wood for about 260 yards to the pin. That was the highlight for me today.
Mithun PERERA (SLK) – First Round 66 (-5)
It’s been a long time since I had a good start. I am very happy with how I played today. I played good golf but the results are just not showing in the last couple of weeks. I played nicely again today and I’m glad to finally see a good score today.
I hope to keep up the good form for the next three rounds. I feel very confident after my round today. I had eight putts in nine holes today! I hit my second shot straight into the hole from 105 yards with a pitching wedge for an eagle-two on nine. That gave me a lot of confidence heading into the round.
I felt a little more relaxed after that. I felt like I am capable of scoring well. I was struggling too much trying to get off to a good start in the past. I am very thankful for the support from the local fans. They are very nice and friendly. I feel motivated to play well out there.

Gaganjeet BHULLAR (IND) – First Round 67 (-4)
It was quite a consistent round for me today. I made 14 pars and four birdies. I didn’t do anything exciting to be honest. I just managed to keep the ball in play. I hit the ball really good and I gave myself a lot of birdie opportunities out there. It was a decent round.
This is my third time playing this golf course. I won a PGTI event here in back 2011. It’s nice to be back after five years. I remember a lot of good scores on this golf course. It’s a great layout. I have played the old layout before and it has improved a lot. The greens are really good and the course is in a great shape. I look forward to seeing a lot of low numbers this week.
George GANDRANATA (INA) – First Round 67 (-4)
I started off a bit shaky. I hit my first green and I missed the next five. It was shaky but I managed to get good up and downs on a couple of holes. The short game kept me there. I just told myself to stay patient and there are a lot of birdie opportunities out there.
I managed to get my ball striking back heading into the round. I managed to hit it straight. It was really good today. I managed to hit it closer to the pin too. I knew if you can hit it close, you have a better chance of getting it. I made a lot of birdies coming in.
It’s actually more of a positioning golf course. You need to place the ball in the right positions when you attack the pins. I think it’s more strategy than anything else. You have to think of where to place the ball to get the best opportunity to score.
I missed the cut by one last year so it’s really great to get off to a good start today.
