It’s good to be back at the Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters. I haven’t been here since I won (in 2009). I’m looking forward to the week and hopefully I play as I good as I did the last time.
I remember I kind of hung in there for the first three days and then got a hot start on the last day and it kind of went for there. I had momentum from the first tee, birdied five of the first six holes and didn’t make any mistakes. I just I had a blinder of a round!
I started well when I got to Europe but the last six months of 2010, I struggled quite a bit and lost a bit of confidence. It kind of spiraled from there and I’ve not quite got back my form yet. I’m sure it’s not too far away. I’ve played good rounds here and there but not four in a row. I know I can still play well and I’m sure it’s not too far away.
I’ve only played three tournaments this year. I’ve got to play well in whatever opportunities that I do get into. I’m playing in the Past Champions exemption this week which is nice. I have to play well in the right weeks. This week is an important week as the Tour will do the re-rank after this event. I can’t really control what that is out of my control. All I can do is play well when I have the opportunity.
My game is kind of hot and cold. Parts of my game have not gelled together during the same week. I can hit it well and not putt well and vice versa. I hope everything will fall into place this week.
I watched the highlights of my win in 2009 on DVD before coming out to Malaysia. It’s nice to be back here. The course hasn’t changed in the last four years which is kind of comforting. I played nine holes today and will play again on Wednesday. It’s the same course and the same trouble.
You have to hit it straight. I did forget how narrow it was. That round of 63, looking back at it, it was quite a round. I just played well and everything went right. It was so relaxed that day. I just hit 15 balls that morning at the range and everything felt good to go.
To come out with the win was satisfying as I can remember I didn’t start that season too well. But that was 2009 and now we’re 2013 and I’ve got to look forward.
