Both Blog: Time to step up

September 10: In this latest blog, Marcus Both of Australia talks about returning to Chinese Taipei for the second time this season and recovering from an injury. He has not hit top form yet and will need a battling performance this week to fuel his intentions to retain his Asian Tour card for the 12th consecutive season.

It is nice to come back to somewhere familiar. I actually played on this course on the local Tour a few weeks after the Selangor Masters. It is nice to have played here in advance with a few extra practice rounds. I played pretty nicely in the event but unfortunately the typhoon came and wiped out the event! The course is in much better shape now.
My season hasn’t been great but that can changed very quickly. I think I have gotten to the root of the problem.  I was putting too much stress on my body because I had some injuries which made it difficult for me to swing the club the way I wanted to.
I changed a few things around and I’m hitting it much better. No stress on my body so that’s great. Once you get those worries out, then your mind becomes free and you can focus on playing some good golf.
The greens here are quite flat but the breaks are quite subtle and tricky to read. I think the greens are probably the main battle this week.
You don’t play in a tournament without thinking about winning. I want to take baby steps on improving my game. I got a bit of work to do to secure my playing rights for next year. But I’m not too concerned about it. I got some performance goals that I want to achieve. There are fairly high goals so I hope it goes well.
Ends.
