Cha-am, Hua Hin, February 15: Filipino veteran Cassius Casas proved that his best days are far from over after fighting his way back onto the Asian Tour at the Qualifying School Final Stage presented by Sports Authority of Thailand.
He shot a three-under-par 68 for a six-under-par 279 total to finish in tied 18th place at the Springfield Royal Country Club and was among 40 players who earned their Asian Tour card at the challenging Final Stage.
In his blog, Casas talks about his return to form, playing against a younger generation of golfers and his return to the winners’ circle on the local Tour.

It feels great to earn my Asian Tour card! I’ve been busy coaching the Philippine Amateur Golf Team in the last couple of years and I concentrated on that.
I finished my contract recently and I decided to sign up for the Asian Tour. I won an event in the Philippines last week and at the end of last year. After those two victories, I told myself that I’m ready to sign up for the Asian Tour and this is my time to play well again!
I’m 47 years old this year but it doesn’t matter. I feel that my game is good enough to play on the Asian Tour. Age is only a number.
I see a lot of young players on the Asian Tour now but I have a lot of experience. I won over 80 local events and I’ve been playing golf for many years. My game is at a level where I want it to be and I’m happy with how I performed this week.
I’ve really been training hard for this Qualifying School. Winning in the Philippines gave me the confidence and I sort of continued my form this week. I’m glad I made it.
Ends.
