Chang blog: A day I’ll never forget

Southport, England, July 22: It will be a week to remember for Yikeun Chang in his debut at The Open. The young Korean made the halfway cut in sensational fashion, shooting a second round one-over-par 71 on a day when some of the best players in the world struggled.
After celebrating his achievement, he was then paired with The Open defending champion Henrik Stenson. In day which he will never forget, here’s what he has to say.

It is an amazing feeling to play in The Open and to play playing in the weekend is something which I’ve dreamt of and achieved. It is really a great feeling.
I knew the weather won’t be perfect and I was prepared for wind and rain but yesterday (round two) was ugly. But I played great and it was a good experience because you don’t play in that weather very often!

I was really happy to make the cut but after I saw who my playing partner was, I was jumping around with joy!
The round couldn’t be any better. I learnt a lot by watching him the whole day. It was fun and I was really enjoyed the moment even though I didn’t play well.
I made simple mistakes but overall I’m very happy with my game at the moment. I hit the ball really good in the back nine but missed a few putts. I’m really looking forward to the final round.
It has been an amazing week so far for me but today… I don’t think I’ll ever forget this moment.
Ends.
