CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters returns with a bang

The CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters is back and is set to convert even the most casual of fans into avid followers of the sport.
A crowd-puller at the prestigious Royale Jakarta Golf Club, the US$750,000 Asian Tour event has always left a big impression among the galleries with all the hallmarks of a world-class golf event.
From star players to wonderful hospitality, local youth development initiatives and fringe activities, the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters is poised to delight passionate fans who are still suffering from the hangover of the last edition played 12 months ago.
Even Austria’s Bernd Wiesberger, who will be back to defend his title, has no qualms about making a journey that spans halfway around the globe and return to what he has called, a ‘home away from home’.
Wiesberger is certainly no stranger to the local culture and is relishing the opportunity to experience the warm hospitality the country has to offer again.
“I’ve got so many friends and supporters out here. I like the people, the culture and I’m fortunate that I have my coach who’s based here,” said the defending champion.
The Austrian will have his defence title cut out this year as he will face a stern test with the likes of reigning Asian Tour Order of Merit winner Kiradech Aphibarnrat of Thailand and Major winner Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa among the headline acts who have confirmed their participation.
As the region’s top player, Kiradech will be a name to look out for at the Royale Jakarta Golf Club.
The Thai has created headlines with several standout performances including defeating a world class field to clinch his second Asian Tour title in Malaysia last year.
Oosthuizen will also be expected to feature prominently on the leaderboard as he comes with a big reputation.
The South African secured his place in the history books with a magnificent triumph in The 139th Open Championship in 2010.
His seven-shot victory at St. Andrews placed him alongside South African legends Bobby Locke, Gary Player and Ernie Els as The Open Champions.
Set to tee off from April 24-27, 2014, the fourth edition of the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters will also feature three-time Asian Tour Order of Merit winner, Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand.
Thongchai is no stranger to success in the region as he has amassed a total of 13 titles on the Asian Tour.
Fans will also remember the decorated Thai for putting up a spirited fight for the title before finishing fourth.
Fervours support can also be expected for the local charge where apart from the country’s leading professionals, one Indonesian amateur from the newly established Indonesia PGA Champions Tour will also get his chance to tee up alongside the region’s best players.
For fans who cannot catch the action live, the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters will have widespread exposure via a strong local media platform as well as the Asian Tour’s global television platform, which reaches out to over 200 countries and 650 million households on the Live, Highlights, Asian Tour Golf Show and Golfing World.
April 24-27, Royale Jakarta Golf Club.
Now, save this date for it’ll be a week to savour!
Ends.
