Osaka, Japan, September 20: In this week's Asia-Pacific Diamond Cup, we pick the top contenders who are likely to shine at the highly acclaimed Ibaraki Country Club in Osaka.
Jeunghun Wang (Kor)
Wang won the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in May, a week after his triumph on the European Tour in Morocco. Dubbed as one of the rising stars from the land of morning calm. Wang represented his country in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in August and he will be the highest ranked Asian Tour player in the field this week.
Order of Merit (OOM): 3rd
Miguel Tabuena (Phi)
Miguel won his first Asian Tour title at the Philippine Open in 2015 and finished tied second at the Maybank Malaysia Championship earlier this year. He also represented the Philippines in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
OOM: 4th
Younghan Song (Kor)
Song created headlines when he beat former world number one Jordan Spieth for his breakthrough title at the 2016 SMBC Singapore Open earlier in January.
OOM: 8th
Prayad Marksaeng (Tha)
Prayad is one of the most decorated players on the Asian Tour. He won his ninth Asian Tour title at the 2015 Queen's Cup. This year, he started playing on the Japan Senior Tour where he clinched three victories in two months.
OOM: 22nd
Siddikur Rahman (Ban)
Siddikur came close to winning his third Asian Tour title at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in May before settling for second.
OOM: 12th
Chan Shih-chang (Tpe)
Chan claimed his breakthrough win at the 2016 King's Cup. Prior to that, he had won five times on the Asian Development Tour.
OOM: 14th
