K.T. Kim (Kor) – Final Round 68 (-2), Total 271 (-9)
This is the first tournament I won in Japan and the memories are still fresh in my mind. It was a really tough battle this week but I’m glad that I was victorious. I had a two-shot lead but I knew there were a lot of strong players behind me.
A few shots lead can easily be erased here so I kept to my pace and I told myself that if I can hit under-par today then I will have a good chance. It was never going to be an easy win and it wasn’t.
To be honest, I wasn’t watching the leaderboard. I thought I was two or three shots ahead of everyone until I reached the par three 13th hole. That’s when I saw that I was tied for the lead. I knew it was going to get harder but I didn’t want to push myself too hard. I stayed relax and I was able to get the birdie.
On the 18th hole, I knew that Toshinori (Muto) and Yuta (Ikeda) were two shots behind and that they could eagle the hole. I wanted to get a birdie and I did. I wasn’t aware of what my playing partners did so I only knew that I won until the very end. I was nervous!
I didn’t expect to win so many titles this year. I haven’t won in three years before this season started so I was hoping to win at least one tournament. I’ve come this far now and I’m really happy.
Yuta Ikeda (Jpn) – Final Round 69 (-1), Total 274 (-4)
I couldn’t get my game together at all and the putts couldn’t go in. When the putts can’t go in then you can’t do anything about it. I struggled on the greens. Every day was a struggle and I couldn’t get it together. I knew that I couldn’t get the score I wanted to chase Kim so I tried to stay patient. I’m hoping that this week will a sign of better things to come.

Prayad Marksaeng (Tha) – Final Round 71 (+1), Total 278 (-2)
I’m happy with my performance even though I didn’t put enough pressure on Kim. It was another bad day of putting for me. The greens are tricky here so I’ll accept the result. It is a good experience to play on such a difficult course this week. At least I finished under-par so I’m proud with my result.
I’m happy with the result because I increased my money on the Order of Merit and now I’m closer to qualifying for the CIMB Classic. I only played once in the event a few years ago so I’m really looking forward to playing there again. It is a big event with a lot of good players so it will be great if I can qualify for it.
It is one of my goals to play in the CIMB Classic this year. Now I have to try my best to stay inside the top-10 of the Order of Merit.
Paul Peterson (Usa) – Final Round 69 (-1), Total 280 (even par)
I was not very comfortable with my set-up. I needed to dig deep because it wasn’t easy from the fairways especially with an iron in my hands. I have a lot of work to do. I’m glad this happened earlier rather than feeling uncomfortable later in the year.
This is a good stepping stone and I’m heading into the right direction into the remainder of the year. Yeah my game feels so good in certain components and I’ve been playing well to try and qualify for the CIMB Classic.
There are so many things in my game that are heading in the right direction. I really expect some good results heading into the rest of the year. I’m happy with my result this week. For me to finish inside the top-20 with my C game was very encouraging.
I was almost outside the cutline in this tournament and to finish inside the top-20 feels good. I was really grinding it out in the second round in the cold and darkness and to finish the event the way I did is something I will remember for the rest of the year.
I’m really looking forward to the event coming up. I think I’m really close to breaking through. I’m excited with the upcoming tournaments.
