EurAsia Cup set to chart new era

Kuala Lumpur, March 26: The inaugural EurAsia Cup represents a significant sponsorship achievement for DRB-HICOM as the golfing world prepares to witness an intercontinental battle between Asia and Europe at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club starting on Thursday.
With the EurAsia Cup being regarded as the ideal platform to propel DRB-HICOM’s profile onto the international stage, Datuk Mohamed Razeek Md Hussain, Chief Operating Officer, DRB-HICOM is delighted that the Group’s vision to support the match has now become a reality.
“The discussion for the EurAsia Cup started a couple of years ago when we wanted to find a suitable date on the Asian Tour and European Tour schedule that can feature a match between Asia against Europe. We were working hard on it and we finally got the prime minister to endorse it,” said Razeek.
“It is a great opportunity for us to have two continents pit their skills against each other. DRB-HICOM will go down in history as the first to host the EurAsia Cup at Glenmarie and that’s an incredible premium to have,” he added.
The EurAsia Cup is DRB-HICOM first foray into professional golf sponsorship and Razeek believes its involvement with the marquee event will steer the company towards a sponsorship path that will become the envy of many.
“When you have the opportunity to go into more than 600 million viewers worldwide, it’s an incredible opportunity to show off what we have and they include our automotive, real estate and financial services within our group,” said Razeek.
The three-day Ryder Cup-style event has been billed as the clash of the continentals and will be broadcast live to an international audience on the Asian Tour and European Tour television platforms.
The EurAsia Cup is based on a format similar to the Ryder Cup where the teams will go head-to-head in the fourball format on day one, foursomes on day two before culminating with the singles on the final day.

Tickets are priced as follow: Day 1 RM78, Day 2 RM78, Day 3 RM98 and Season Ticket RM158. Entry is free for children under the age of 16. Entry is free to all on March 26, Wednesday which is the pro-am day.
Each ticket will include a voucher for a free EurAsia Cup team cap. This can be redeemed on site at the EurAsia Cup at the Official Merchandise shop at Glenmarie Golf and Country Club.
The format of play for the EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM will see five fourball matches being played on the first day (March 27, Thursday) followed by five foursomes matches on day two (March 28, Friday) and 10 singles matches on the final day (March 29, Saturday) at Glenmarie’s Garden course.
The EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM is sanctioned by the Asian Tour and European Tour. Professional Golf Malaysia (PGM) will act as the local facilitator for the event.

About Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM)
Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) is a Company Limited by Guarantee, registered on 5th August 2010 in Malaysia. As a non-profit organisation, PGM’s objectives are to promote the sport of golf and to contribute towards its enjoyment and growth.
