Excitement heats up ahead of Indo Masters

Jakarta, April 17: The fourth edition of the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters is set to revive another exciting week of mouth-watering clash between the world’s best golfers at the Royale Jakarta Golf Club from April 24-27.
In what is poised to be one of the most exciting sporting events in Indonesia with the ensemble of top golfers from all corners of the globe, the US$750,000 CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters promises avid golf fans a spectacular sporting experience like no other.
France’s Victor Dubuisson, who is the highest ranked player at 23rd place on the Official World Golf Ranking, is set to resume rivalry with the best players from the Asian Tour that include India’s Anirban Lahiri who defeated him in the Foursomes and Singles match at last month’s EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM in Malaysia.
The performances of South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen will also be keenly watched after his win at the 2010 Open Championship elevated the world number 38 to the Major winner’s circle.
Despite being hampered by injuries last year, the South African returned to form by successfully defending the prestigious Volvo Golf Championship on home soil in January this year.
Although he is focused on doing well at the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters, he is also wary of the threat from the Asian contingent.
“Asian golf is very strong and you could see that with the recent EurAsia Cup. Whenever we play in Asia, we know that the Asian players are going to be a big threat and you need to play good golf,” said Oosthuizen.
Other established players from the region’s premier Tour expected to light up the week include EurAsia Cup stars Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Prayad Marksaeng and Bangladesh’s Siddikur Rahman.
Thongchai will be well remembered by many for being the inspirational captain who provided the Midas touch by rallying his Asian troops back to force a 10-10 draw with Europe at the recent EurAsia Cup.
Australia’s Scott Hend, who finished second on the Asian Tour Order of Merit last season, will also be among the familiar names trusted into the spotlight alongside Asian Tour winners Mardan Mamat of Singapore, Chinese Taipei’s Lin Wen-tang and India’s Rashid Khan.
Defending champion Bernd Wiesberger of Austria is expected to bank on his ‘home’ advantage, having described Jakarta as a ‘home away from home’ when he won the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters title last year.
On the corporate front, the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters has enjoyed strong support with many of leading names committed to ensuring the event continues to be successful.
They include main partners Pertamina, BMW Indonesia, Garuda Indonesia, Freeport, Oakley and SvinGolf.
Fans who cannot be at the Royale Jakarta to soak in the action, can enjoy the live broadcast of the event from the comforts of their living rooms as the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters will reach out to over 200 countries and 627 million households via the Asian Tour’s global television platform.
Ends.
