Green eases into the weekend at the Belgian Knockout

Antwerp, Belgium, May 18: Gavin Green of Malaysia carded a second-round one-under-par 70 to progress to the next round of the European Tour’s Belgian Knockout.

Starting the round with a share of the lead, the reigning Asian Tour Order of Merit champion put in a steady performance, carding three birdies against two bogeys to finish in tied-eighth on a five-under-par 137 total at the Rinkven International Golf Club. Green will be matched against Matthias Schwab of Austria on Saturday.

Jazz Janewattanond of Thailand will be joining Green on Saturday after finishing with a 69. He is in tied-16th and he will be going head-to-head with Richard McEvoy of England.

David Lipsky of the United States signed for a 68 to end the day in tied-18th. He is matched with Pedro Oriol of Spain.

Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent was part of a 11-man play-off to determine the final eight players to progress to the next round. He secured his place after carding a birdie at the first extra hole. He will be playing against England’s James Heath tomorrow.

The top 64 players after the first two rounds will be paired against each other for the nine-hole knockout stroke play matches. The player with the lower number of strokes at the end of nine holes wins. Three rounds of knockout matches will feature on Saturday, so only eight players will proceed to Sunday and challenge for the title.
