Groom blog: A hot putting day

June 20: Adam Groom of Australia enjoyed a hot putting day at the Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters where he shot a three-under-par 68 to lie two shots from the lead. In this blog, he talks about changing the putting grip and tackling the tricky Seri Selangor course.
This is a bit of a funny golf course but I’m happy with how I played. It is a good result on this golf course. I’ve been hitting it well in practice rounds but I haven’t been scoring during tournaments.
I found six fairways today but it was still good because I wasn’t in the rough much. I had 24 putts so that was the difference in my round.
You have to get your ball in play with whatever club and try to get the correct distance into the greens. You can miss the greens by a small amount and the ball will roll off the green. It is very difficult to chip out around the greens.
I went back to the conventional putter grip this week. I was putting cross-handed for about five months. I don’t know why I changed. I just felt good with the conventional grip and it worked for me today.
Ends.
