Jakarta, April 11: A jubilant Angelo Que of the Philippines believes happiness from all fronts will put him in a positive state of mind at the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters set to tee off at the Royale Jakarta Golf Club from April 24-27.
The affable Filipino  is a three-time Asian Tour winner but not since 2010. However he remains sanguine about his chances at the US$750,000 event which is into its fourth edition this year.
“I just have to stay patient and not get too carried away. If I can do that, I’m confident that next win will come. I’ve always enjoyed playing at Royale Jakarta. I like the course and it’s a course which I can do very well,” said Que, who finished tied-fifth at last year’s CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters.
With the impending arrival of his baby boy, Que believes that is an added motivation by itself to do well at the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters.
“I’m very excited. Playing well in any event would be great for my family but a new baby and a win would top it all off,” said Que.
Que knows it will not be a walk in the park as he contends for the title against the Asian Tour’s biggest names such as Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, India’s Anirban Lahiri and Bangladesh’s Siddikur Rahman.
He will also be up against an international field that includes France’s Victor Dubuisson, Major winner Louis Oosthuizen as well as defending champion and world number 71 Bernd Wiesberger of Austria.
“I’ll try my best to keep up with them and if I start making putts, I will have a good chance. Also, If I can keep up with them, that also means I’m doing something right,” said Que.
Que enjoyed one of his most consistent seasons in 2013 where he finished a career high of 13th place on the Asian Tour Order of Merit, thanks to six top-10s.
The Filipino was on the verge of his fourth victory on the region’s premier Tour at the Solaire Open in March but saw his title hopes fade away after committing a costly mistake on one hole in the final round.
Que knows lessons learnt from the past will put him in good stead to do well and he has to play above himself and maintain consistency to return to the winner’s circle again.
“Since last year, I’ve always been knocking on the door. All I have to do is play four good rounds and avoid the one big mistake. I’ve been making a lot of mistakes in the third or fourth rounds,” said Que.
The CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters has enjoyed strong support with many of leading names committed to ensuring the event continues to be successful.
They include main partners Pertamina, BMW Indonesia, Garuda Indonesia, Freeport, Oakley and SvinGolf.
The CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters will also reach out to over 200 countries and 627 million households via the Asian Tour’s global television platform.
Ends.
