Hend, a nine-time winner on the Asian Tour, stumbled with three bogeys to finish in tied-10th position, 11 shots back of winner Hideki Matsuyama of Japan, on five-under-par 275 total at the Firestone Country Club.
It was Hend’s debut appearance in what is the third WGC event this season. He qualified for the tournament after winning the Asian Tour Order of Merit in 2016.
The 43-year-old Australian had signed for a superb 63 on moving day. His previous best result was a tied-19th place finish at the WGC-HSBC Champions in 2015.
Sam Brazel, also of Australia, closed with a 70 to settle for tied-47th place on 285 while Thai star Thongchai Jaidee came in a further three shots back in tied-63rd following a 73.
Young Korean talent Jeunghun Wang carded a 69 to grab a share of 66th position on 289 while South African Shaun Norris settled for 71st place on his own following a 71.
