March 16: In this week’s Hero Indian Open, we pick the top contenders who are likely to shine at the US$1.66 million event staged at the Delhi Golf Club.
Anirban Lahiri (Ind)
Anirban won the Hero Indian Open by defeating S.S.P. Chawrasia in a play-off last year to for his second victory in three weeks. He will return this week to defend his crown and will be the hot favourite at the tree-lined Delhi Golf Club. The reigning Asian Tour number one is also the highest ranked player in the elite field.

Padraig Harrington (Irl)
Padraig will make a welcome return to India after 24 years since his first appearance in the country as an amateur. It will be the first time the three-time Major champion will play at the Hero Indian Open. The Irishman hopes to increase his winning tally in Asia where he has won four titles in his illustrious career.

Marcus Fraser of Australia Marcus Fraser of Australia
Marcus Fraser (Aus)
Marcus is enjoying a good run of form since winning the Maybank Championship Malaysia last month. The victory in Malaysia ended a six-year title drought for the Australian and he will be one to look out for at the Hero Indian Open. After finishing third last year, Marcus hopes to go two spots better this week.

Miguel Tabuena (Phi)
With two top-five results in five appearances this season, Miguel hopes to continue his good form and narrow the gap on Order of Merit leader Marcus Fraser. The Filipino has not enjoyed the best of results at the Delhi Golf Club but with confidence soaring, he expects to mount a title charge this week.

Scott Hend (Aus)
Scott is aiming for back-to-back victories after winning in Thailand last week. The big-hitting Australian hopes to continue his momentum and build on his winning performance at the Hero Indian Open.

S.S.P. Chawrasia (Ind)
After finishing second on four occasions in his National Open, Chawrasia is eager to shed his bridesmaid tag and claim the prestigious title. He is a home favourite at the Delhi Golf Club and his knowledge of the course will put him in good stead this week.
