February 18: AsianTour.com picks the likely contenders at this week’s US$1.5 million Hero Indian Open.

Voted Players’ Player of the Year in 2014, the Indian is one of the home favourites tipped to win the Hero Indian Open. His latest win at the Maybank Malaysian Open two weeks ago was his biggest career victory to date. However, he hopes to fulfil a childhood dream by winning the Hero Indian Open.

After winning on the US Champions Tour in Hawaii in January, Jiménez returned to European Tour action in Malaysia and Thailand over the past fortnight, with a seventh-place finish in Thailand. This will be the first time the Spaniard plays in India since 2008.

Scott Hend (Aus)
The big-hitting Australian finished tied second in Thailand last week and is in fine form ahead of the Hero Indian Open. He is one of the most successful international golfers on the Asian Tour and is one of the top picks to win the Hero Indian Open.

Rashid Khan (Ind)
Rising star Rashid Khan won his first Asian Tour title at the Delhi Golf Club last year before going on to win in Thailand. The 2014 season marked to be the coming of age for Rashid, who will undoubtedly be one to watch on his home course.

Siddikur uncharacteristically missed two cuts in his last two appearances but he will be motivated to turn the corner when he defends his title at the Hero Indian Open. He has a solid track record at the Delhi Golf Club where he has one win and eight other top-10s, including two runner-up finishes.
Thaworn Wiratchant (Tha)
Thaworn is a two-time Asian Tour number one and holds an unprecedented 18 titles on the region’s premier Tour which includes two Hero Indian Open victories. He is aiming to become only the third person to win the prestigious event on three occasions.
