Sergio Garcia (Esp) – Final Round 68 (-3), Total 270 (-14)
Note: Won Play-off on second extra hole with a par
It was horrible for me. It was a strange day. Felt like I was so much under control, the way I played the front nine. Then I hit a bad tee shot on 10 but I still managed to get it back together and had some chances which I didn’t make. Then I hit a poor shot on 17. The only place I could never hit is left and I just made a terrible swing. I then got lucky. I guess they gave me a hat in a my hand and I gave it away and they gave me another chance. I felt in the playoff, it was just to stay alive. I thought one of them was going to make it. It was just luck for me. When you hit the putt like the one I had, 30 to 35 feet, even if you hit a great putt, you need to get lucky to make it. Then I managed to get to the next hole and unfortunately Rai pulled it a bit left into the bushes and I managed to make four and that was it.
I felt good, felt I played decent all week. Not as spectacular here and there but I felt really comfortable, felt good and knew exactly what I was doing. Then unfortunately, I got a little bit nervous and my motion wasn’t as fluid as it was in the front nine and I was struggling coming in. When that happens, you have doubts in your head and there’s nothing worse that playing golf when you have little doubts in your head. Fortunately for me, I managed to get through them. I think this will be a good thing after not winning for a while.

Note: Thaworn lost in a play-off.
My putt in the playoff (first extra hole) was against the wind. I knew I had to putt it a bit harder but it was probably too hard. It was a good line. In regulation, Sergio missed a putt on 10 for bogey and on 16, he three putted for par. I feel good despite losing. No problem. On 17, after Sergio made double, I had a chance to make birdie but I didn’t make it. This week, my left-to-right putts weren’t good. That is normally my strength. Sergio then hits a long birdie on the first play-off hole, it was almost the same line as he had in regulation play. He made it.
Lin Wen-tang (Tpe) – Final Round 70 (-1), Total 270 (-14)
Note: Lin lost in the play-off.
I felt good but I missed too many short birdie putts (8, 13 and 14). I three-putted on the 17th hole and I think that’s the turning point. Overall, I’m still very happy because I played well against a very good field this week.
In the play-off, I was stupid. I put too much power in my swing and hit my tee shot into the right sand dune. I had a crazy lie. I used a six-iron and hit it slightly higher and it was very good because it landed on the green.
It is a good result. I’m very happy to play with Sergio in the third round. Maybe I will try and win again next week (laughs).
Himmat Rai (Ind) – Final Round 67 (-4), Total 270 (-14)
Note: Rai lost on the second play-off hole to Sergio Garcia.
I enjoyed it because I played really good. On 18 (second play-off hole) I just rushed it. I wasn’t feeling comfortable with my grip and I should have backed off. I was a little bit disappointed. I had no shot in the bushes so I just chipped it out and hit that seven iron into the green.
I was showing signs of improvement this year. I came into contention a couple of times (Asian Development Tour) so I wasn’t out of it this year. The game was there. It was about putting it together and I’m so glad I did it this week. Thanks to God, it has all worked out and I have an Asian Tour card for next year. It was looking very bleak.

I tried not to look at the leaderboard but on the 18th hole to announce that I was the leader! It has been a great week. All positives to draw from this.
I had to go for Monday qualifying for the Thailand Golf Championship but I don’t have to do that now. I have to go ahead and continue to be positive.
Eagle on hole 16: It was 122 yards to the flag. I hit a pitching wedge and the moment I hit it, I knew it would be close but it rolled back. I couldn’t believe my eyes.
Sam Cyr (Usa) – Final Round 65 (-6) Total 273 (-11)
I played really but I didn’t manage super well. I’ve been striking it well all week but didn’t convert as many as I would have liked. Today I made every birdie that I needed to make. I snuck in a 15-footer on hole 15. I was trying my best to finish top-five to get into the next week.
I got hurt for almost five months so I was out for a long time. I couldn’t swing for almost three and a half months. It has been tough in that regards. I got into a few tournaments on the Asian Tour but I was a little bit rusty.
I popped my ribs and tore my intercostal muscle. I was fooling around with a friend at a golf tournament. I actually finished the tournament with quite a good score.
I played on the Asian Development Tour (ADT) and had some good results so I felt like my game was coming around. I was fortunate to get into this week and played well. I’ve never taken such a long break in golf before.
This result would give me a lifeline to save my card. If I can get into next week (playing in the Monday qualifier) and into the Philippines then I might have an opportunity
