Jazz seeks Thai hat-trick #HoTramOpen

Ho Tram, Vietnam, December 1: Jazz Janewattananond hopes to make it a hat-trick of Thai victories when he tees up at the inaugural US$1.5 million Ho Tram Open on Thursday.
Jazz, who turned 20 last Saturday, has come close to winning on the Asian Tour over the past few seasons and recent maiden triumphs by young compatriots Danthai Boonma and Natipong Srithong have fuelled his desire for a maiden success at The Bluffs Ho Tram Strip course.
“It’s a great inspiration to see Danthai and Natipong winning over the last few weeks on the Asian Tour. I’ve been on Tour a bit longer than them and I’m taking their success as positive thoughts for myself,” said Jazz today.
“If they can do it, so can I. I’ve been knocking on the door but I haven’t had the right chance. Maybe this week. I’m playing well and hopefully I can play my best again.”

The highly talented Jazz, who has posted three top-six finishes this season and is currently 15th on the Order of Merit, was in awe of The Bluffs Ho Tram Strip course, which is a Greg Norman design.
And he believes the links-styled venue will provide a different kind of test to the region’s top stars.
“This is one of the best venues in Asia I think … one of the greatest. The course design is very good and condition is perfect. It’s windy because we’re next to the ocean and I think we’ll have a good test. There are a lot of good holes. It’s a links-styled course and certainly one of the best on Tour,” said Jazz.
“I had a week off last week, celebrating my birthday. I turned 20 and I’m getting old! I’ll probably look at golf a bit differently now as I’m old man Jazz,” he joked.
Natipong, 22, claimed a first Asian Tour win in the Philippines two weeks ago in what was only his fourth professional tournament and the newbie has now set himself a lofty goal to represent Team Asia at the EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM in Malaysia in January.
Currently ranked 12th on the Order of Merit, the teenager needs to finish as the leading top four Asians on the rankings which fourth place is currently occupied by Danny Chia of Malaysia, who is eighth on the rankings.
Slightly more than US$58,000 separates Natipong and Chia and with a huge prize pot at stake in Hot Tram, Natipong knows he could make a big move to maintain a dream start to his fledgling career. The qualifying cut-off for the EurAsia Cup is December 14.
“After the win, my manager told me I should now aim to qualify for the EurAsia Cup. It is a very exciting tournament and I think it will be very good if I can represent Team Asia. That’s my goal,” said the law undergraduate.
Since opening in October 2014, the links-style layout, located two hours southeast of Ho Chi Minh City, has been hailed by many of the world’s leading authorities on golf. In January, GOLF Magazine named it one of the world’s best new courses. In July, the Australian Financial Review called it “as pretty a course as you’ll find on the entire Asian continent.” Last month, it was named the “World’s Best New Course” at the World Golf Awards ceremony in Portugal.
