Karlberg secures top-five finish in Europe

June 3: Multiple Asian Tour winner Rikard Karlberg of Sweden secured his first top-five finish in 2013 at the Nordea Masters on Sunday.
The dashing Swede, who won twice in India in 2010, carded a four-under-par 68 on the final day to end in a four-way tie for fourth at 16-under-par 272 total, together with Denmark’s Thomas Bjorn, Italian Matteo Manassero and fellow Swede Alexander Noren.
The 27-year-old was five shots back of winner, Mikko Ilonen of Finland, who carded a closing  69 to finish with a 21-under total at the Bro Hoff Slott Golf Club on the outskirts of Stockholm.
Over in Japan, Korea’s Kim Hyung-sung posted a 71 on Sunday at the Japan’s Tour Diamond Cup Golf to share second place at seven-under with Australian Brad Kennedy and fellow compatriot Park Sung-joon.
The 33-year-old, who had just won the PGA Championship Nissin Cupnoodles Cup in Japan two weeks ago, was two shots back of winner Hideki Matsuyama, who finished on 279 total at the Oarai Golf Club, recording a second victory in just five starts since turning professional in April 2013.
Thai veteran Boonchu Ruangkit claimed victory at the Japan Senior Tour's ISPS Handa Cup on Sunday.
