It is nice every time you see your name on the leaderboard. My name was on the leaderboard early in the round and I told myself to keep it there. The course is playing very difficult this year. I remember shooting a one-under last year and missed the cut.
I didn’t find any rough so that was good. I had two chip-ins (hole 13 - 40 feet and hole 16 - 30 feet) on my first seven holes and was four-under after nine holes.
I’m playing this course like my home course. I just trying to find the fairway and hit it as straight as I can. I’m very calm on the course now because I started working with a mental coach in India for a month.
She (Aparna Jain) told me that I’m too aggressive on the golf course and that I need to be calm and play easy. She said I shouldn’t put pressure on myself. It is a four-day tournament and I should take it step-by-step.
I’ve seen a lot of players working with mental coaches and they seem to be doing well. And my problem is only in my head. I have to focus more on the course.
Ends.
