Sentosa, May 30: Korea’s K.T. Kim continued his dominant form by securing his 13th Japan Tour title and eighth in the last 12 months at the Gate Way to The Open Mizuno Open on Sunday.
The 29-year-old Korean closed with a one-over-par 73 to win by one shot over compatriot Sanghee Lee (72), local duo Kodai Ichihara (68) and Shugo Imahira (72) on 11-under-par 277 total at the Jfe Setonaikai Golf Club in Okayama.
Kim, who represented Team Asia in the EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM earlier this year, has secured three victories in the last two months and has never finished outside of top-three in his last six starts.
Four spots for the 2016 Open Championship were offered to the leading four players, who have not already qualified, at the Gate Way to The Open Mizuno Open.
With Kim already qualified, Japan’s Hideto Tanihara will head to the Royal Troon alongside Lee, Ichihara and Imahira as he is the highest world ranked player among the other three players who finished two shots back in joint fifth at the event.
Ends.
