March 23: Korean star K.T. Kim produced a stunning 4 & 2 victory over reigning Masters Tournament champion Danny Willett in his opening match at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play at the Austin Country Club on Wednesday.
The Asian Tour stalwart, who is a multiple winner in Japan and Asia, was always ahead of the Englishman after winning the opening two holes before easily wrapping up his first group win on the 16th green.
Kim, who represented Team Asia in the EurAsia Cup last year, will next face Scotsman Russell Knox, who was also victorious over Bill Haas. The winner of this match should have an easier passage in the next round of 16.
Countryman Jeunghun Wang endured a losing start to his campaign, going down 4&3 to Ryder Cup star Rafa Cabrera Bello in his opening match while Thai veteran  Thongchai Jaidee was also defeated by Sweden's Alex Noren, 3 &2.
Wang will face Tyrell Hatton while Thongchai will take on Francesco Molinari on Thursday in matches they need to win to keep their quarter-final hopes alive.
