Rikard Karlberg (Swe) – First Round 65 (-7)
My score for this round couldn’t have been better as the winds were quite strong in the morning and I’m glad I still managed to do well. It was so windy but I stayed in the game even though I had a double-bogey (on the 15th) but I did well to finish off the round. I hit some great shots and holed many putts coming in. So I’m very pleased with my result. This may be my home course but it’s still different especially when you’re playing tournament golf. For example on the 17th, I had to lay up and I think I had only laid up once before I played this course. If you practice a lot on this course, you can play pretty aggressive. You don’t really think too much about how you’re playing. But when you’re in competition mode, you’ve to put in a little of risk. It’s a little bit different but of course, there’s big advantage especially playing in the wind and on the slopes. It’s like a mini Scandinavia going around out here in Hua Hin. It’s nice to see them coming up here to support us and also the members of Black Mountain Golf Club.  Everything’s going so well in my life especially with my engagement to Pernilla and I’m just want to enjoy my golf now.
Prom Meesawat (Tha) – First Round 65 (-7)
I had a good start today despite the strong winds. I didn’t do anything wrong today. Those two eagles really helped me with getting a really low score but there are still three days to go. Actually such conditions are not really new to me as I’ve played in similar conditions before.  I had a good experience playing in Europe with the strong winds. They really helped me with my club selection and it has definitely helped me a lot. It’s a good week for me as I get to stay with my dad in Hua Hin, sleep on my own bed and have my family following and supporting me. I’ll try to play well and make them and also the Thai people happy. I’ll keep trying my best. I’ve already got those two play-off defeats out of my mind and I’ve been telling myself to concentrate on this week and the new season so that  I can get my second win.
Angelo Que (Phi) – First Round 66 (-6)
I putted really well. I holed a lot of putts and I’m hitting the ball really good. The wind died down on the last few holes but it was quite windy early in my round. I was expecting strong wind so I knew how to prepare for it.
For the next three days, I just want to have fun. I like this course. I played well here before and I feel very relaxed here because we are staying on site and everything is so close by. I think the main key is for me to stay calm and relaxed.
Thitiphun Chuayprakong (Tha) – First Round 69 (-3)
I felt that I was a bit lucky in the round. I had one chip in from seven yards on the fourth hole and holed a long birdie putt (20 footer) on the third hole.
I like playing this golf course. When I’m not travelling on the Asian Tour, I always come to Hua Hin to practice. I like it here in Hua Hin because it is peaceful and quiet.
I know I need a good result this week and I’m very excited with the challenge. I’ve practised a lot and I’m ready to play well. Previously I struggled a lot with my short game. A lot of Thai players told me that my chipping is not good. But Thaworn, Chawalit, Prom and Pariya have helped me to improve in my game.HUA-HIN-160114-PROM MEESAWAT-004
I’ve also tried to improve in my English. I watch a lot of English superhero movies so that I can learn the language better.
Anirban Lahiri (Ind) – First Round 69 (-3)
Obviously disappointed to finish the way I did but I think I played really well. I probably only missed two shots all day, on number seven where I hit the ball in the wrong spot, otherwise it would have been a flawless round.
(7th hole) I was in the fairway trap and kind of over calculated the wind and hit it over the back and got my ball plugged in the downslope of the greenside bunker. It was impossible to hit a clean shot from there and hit my next shot into the other greenside bunker!
I would have liked to play better give how I played in the middle of the round. Having said that, I’ll be happy if I can keep shooting in the 60s.
Lam Chih Bing (Sin) – First Round 70 (-2)
I played pretty solidly. I got off to a good start and it was blowing a little bit. It was funny because when the wind died down, I couldn’t seem to get my round going. Overall I’m still happy with my round.
I’m trying not to think about the Order of Merit but it isn’t easy. I have the tendency to be a little bit quick and anxious coming down the crunch period. That’s something that I need to monitor in my game.
HUA-HIN-160114-LAM CHIH BING-001I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary during the break. To be honest, I couldn’t enjoy my Christmas and New Year as much I would have like to.
I had a few chances out there where I could play really good but somehow I didn’t take advantage of those weeks. I’m in this position again. Not a great position to be in butat least I’m still in it with a chance.
Hu Mu (Chn) – First Round 71 (-1)
I haven’t been playing competitive golf for some time and was feeling rusty with my game. So to return with a 71 is definitely something positive. The winds were strong . I was already one-over after the first five holes but I managed to steady myself and got back into the game with two birdies following that. I was feeling a little tense when I first got to the tee box. But the pressure sort of eased a bit as the round went on. I’m quite pleased with an opening 71 as I not too far back from the leaders. Actually this course suit my game as I’m a long hitter and can get to the greens in my second or third shot. The challenge is on the greens as they are quite fast and you’ve got to be really careful around them.
