Kiradech Blog: Work to be done

I’m one under for the opening round, but I’m still not happy with the swing. It was a good comeback in my last seven holes with three birdies. Hit some good shots and made some putts. I still have to work a lot on my swing but I’m happy with one under.
I tried to force myself and hit it hard on the front nine. I lost my tempo with my swing and didn’t hit my irons well in the first few holes. But in the last seven holes, I managed to hit it to the pins although I didn’t manage to hole too many putts. It’s a good come back.
On this course, you can make a big move if you stay on the fairways and roll in some putts. It is tough when you don’t hit fairways but six behind with three days to go, it’s not too far behind.
The bogey on the third hole on the par five was from a bad drive. I was lucky to find my first ball as the second drive was also to the left. Chipped it out and didn’t hit a good third shot and found the bunker. The double on seven was an easy double. I hit my driver down the fairway and from 70 yards, I duffed two chips into the bunker. I was quite upset after that!
After the rain came, we stopped after I finished 10. I came back in and thought about my tempo. I went to the range and it was a big difference coming back out. The rain came at the right time.
My new coach was walking with me and he didn’t want to change my tempo when I was out there. But the break was good. The shot on 11 was a turning point. I hit a rescue from 235 yards and put it to within 10 feet. Although I didn’t hole the putt, it gave me my confidence and I birdied the next hole and two more after that.
I won’t change the game plan. The tempo in my swing is the most important right now. If I can play like how I did on the back nine, I should be okay. Six is not far behind.
