August 4: Current Asian Tour Order of Merit leader Kiradech Aphibarnrat of Thailand could not match his previous days’ effort when he carded a third round three-over-par 73 to slip to a share of 17th place at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club in Akron on Saturday.
The Thai ace, who is making his debut in the event, got off to an encouraging start with opening rounds of 69 and 68 to move inside the top-10 at the halfway stage.
However, he could not keep up his charge when he mixed his card with four bogeys against one birdie for a three-day total of even-under-par 210.
Kiradech will head into the final round, 15 shots behind runaway leader Tiger Woods, who holds a massive seven-shot lead over Sweden’s Henrik Stenson in the third World Golf Championships event of the year.
Newly accepted Asian Tour honorary member Ernie Els posted a 70 to take a share of 36th place.
At the Reno-Tahoe Open on the PGA Tour, 2008 Asian Tour Order of Merit winner, Noh Seung-yul of Korea fired eight birdies to collect 14 points in the third round of the modified stableford tournament.
The Korean made a swift move up the leaderboard with 21 points through three rounds with compatriot Charlie Wi also staying in contention with 19 points.
