Abu Dhabi, January 21: Thai star Kiradech Aphibarnrat stayed within striking distance of the leader after signing for a second round four-under-par 68 at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship on Friday.
Kiradech, Asia’s number one in 2013, marked his card with six birdies against two bogeys to trail leader Martin Kaymer of Germany by two shots in tied-third place on 10-under-par 134 total at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
Jeunghun Wang of Korea fired a flawless 67 to lurk three shots off the pace in tied-sixth position while Australian Sam Brazel stayed a further shot back in tied-10th following a solid 65.
Korean American David Lipsky carded a 72 to sit in tied-38th position on 140 while India’s S.S.P. Chawrasia returned with a 74 to slip to tied-62nd place, barely making the cut on 142.
Australian Scott Hend and Soomin Lee of Korea missed the halfway cut following rounds of 71 and 72 respectively.
