Scotland, October 4: Thai star Kiradech Aphibarnrat fired a third round six-under-par 66 to move into contention at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on Saturday.
Kiradech carded eight birdies against two bogeys to trail leader Thorbjorn Olesen of Denmark by five shots in tied-fourth position on 12-under-par 204 total at the Old Course St Andrews.
Asian Tour honorary member Ernie Els of South Africa also returned with a 66 to stay one shot back in eighth while Australian Nathan Holman signed for a 72 to tie in 30th position on 208.
India’s Jyoti Randhawa, who shot a 71, settled for tied-50th position on 210 with several other players including Y.E. Yang of Korea, who registered a 70.
"It's a big jump for me. Yesterday's round at Kingsbarn was key for me as that really pushed me up the leaderboard. I played well today as well. I had eight birdies in total including three in a row. Although I made two bogeys as well, I am happy with how I played today at St Andrews," said the 2013 Asian Tour number one, who has won twice in Europe this season.
"It's my pleasure to be back in St Andrews this week. A lot of my friends are here as well. The weather's been very good. It's really nice to play golf out there. Hopefully the weather stays the same tomorrow,"added the 25-year-old Thai.
