Asian Tour Commissioner Kyi Hla Han said: ““The Asian Tour is delighted the SMBC Singapore Open and Ho Tram Players Championship in Vietnam have been added as tournaments in The Open Qualifying Series for 2017.
“The recognition will enhance the stature of both our events while also providing our talented members with the opportunity to compete for places in Royal Birkdale next July. I would like to thank The R&A for its vision and mission to expand the Qualifying Series further afield across Asia which will be very positive for the development of the game here.”

The Australian Open, which is played from November 17 to 20 at Royal Sydney Golf Club, will be the first chance for players to secure a place in golf’s most international major championship. The leading three players, who finish in the top 10 and ties and who are not already exempt, will qualify for The Open.
Johnnie Cole-Hamilton, Executive Director – Championships at The R&A, said, “The Open Qualifying Series provides golfers around the world with fantastic opportunities to secure their place in The Open. We are looking forward to partnering with the Tours again to bring a truly international field to Royal Birkdale next year.”
