October 19: It was an exciting week at the Venetian Macao Open as Scott Hend won the event for the second time in three years. Here are five interesting facts which you might or might not know.
[dropcap style="default, circle, box, book"]1[/dropcap]Scott Hend is a fighter. During the week, he sank five birdies in each round but the highlight was shooting two eagles in the penultimate round. His winning total of 20-under-par was a record at the Venetian Macao Open. Another interesting fact is that the big-hitting Australian is now 52-under-par at the Macau Golf and Country Club after 12 rounds!
[dropcap style="default, circle, box, book"]2[/dropcap]We witnessed the rise of some young talents including Thitiphun Chuayprakong (23) of Thailand, Hung Chien-yao (23) of Chinese Taipei and Jeunghun Wang (20) of Korea. Even though they finished in tied 52nd, tied 15th and tied 17th places respectively, the future still looks bright for the trio, who are still chasing for a first Asian Tour win.
[dropcap style="default, circle, box, book"]3[/dropcap]Javi Colomo of Spain played without his wife/caddy Cristina and rightly so as his wife is expecting their first child! A big congratulation to them from all of us. Not to forget, Colomo claimed his second consecutive top-10 result on the Asian Tour to move up to 31st position on the Order of Merit.

[dropcap style="default, circle, box, book"]4[/dropcap]If Anirban Lahiri of India won the Venetian Macao Open, it would have been his second career’s successful title defence following his victories at the 2012 and 2013 SAIL SBI Open. So close but yet so far…
[dropcap style="default, circle, box, book"]5[/dropcap]Did you know that Chiragh Kumar, who finished tied second at the Venetian Macao Open to save his Tour card for next year, was also part of the Indian team, who include Gaganjeet Bhullar & Anirban Lahiri which won the silver medal in the 2006 Doha Asian Games? Don’t trust us? We have the photo to prove it….
