September 16: 2008 Asian Tour Rookie of the Year, Noh Seung-yul of Korea capped off a memorable season in the United States when he won the third of four Web.com Tour Finals series events at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship on Sunday.
Noh, who played on the region’s premier Tour before following the footsteps of honorary members K.J. Choi and Y.E. Yang to the United States, closed with a two-under-par 69 for a five-shot victory and in doing so, secured his PGA Tour card for next season.
"I got started pretty solid today and then I made a bogey on the third hole and managed to take a one-shot lead after four holes," said Noh, who finished at 12-under par 272 on Ohio State's Scarlet Course and earned $180,000 to take the series lead with $210,125.
" The birdie on the fifth was the turning point. I hit a five-iron to about four feet and then on number six, I made about a 35-40-footer for another birdie. I just started thinking to just keep going and play like it's the first round. I wasn't nervous today and felt very comfortable," added the 22-year-old, a two-time Asian Tour winner.
With his PGA Tour card secured, Noh, who made history by becoming the Asian Tour's youngest Order of Merit winner in 2010, will be returning home to Korea for the first time since December for a much awaited break.
